Weight Loss Diets Examined
Fad Diets & Dieting Fads: Do they work?
How to Find the Right Diet
Do you know how many diet plans and weight loss systems are being promoted as the greatest weight loss products.
Have you any idea?
Here, let me help you. I'm looking at a search page on the Internet, what do I see?
Hmm. The Atkins Diet, South Beach Diet, Sunslim Diet, Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, 1200 Diet, Biggest Loser Diet,
Geo Diet, Netcal Diet, Cabbage Soup Diet, Grape Fruit Diet and many, many more.
There are all kinds of different methods of losing weight. For instance, here are some of the variations....
low carb, low fat, high protein, liquid, raw, etc, Many vendors of diet food will even deliver the meals to your
door. Now with all this choice and each claiming to be the best, how do you know which is right for you?
A sensible first step is to avoid something too way out- like eating only bean sprouts for 30 days. (I kid you not.
There is such a diet!)
Be realistic. What's the likelihood of you sticking to a plan than deprives you of most of your favorite food?
Assuming you're not eating 100% junk. How long will you endure without eating “normal” food?
Can you survive without pasta and white bread as is required by many low carb diets? Certainly the Atkins diet
mandates this.
Low-Carb and No-carb diets do result in quick weight loss, but it is usually not long lasting and there are health
consequences. A good low carb diet program will steer you towards eating good carbs and avoid bad carbs. Eating no carbs at all is not healthy
and again there are consequences. Many a dieter is so impressed with their initial low/no carb regimens that many avoid all carbohydrates
totally for long periods of time. This is dangerous and I do not advise it all. What's more, the moment they stop dieting, their weight just
sky rockets. The pounds just pile on. To compound the problem, every time this happens it becomes more difficult to burn off fat the next time
you diet. Look for a plan that is balanced and if there is a restrictive period, does it eventually re-introduce carbs back into your life? If
not.... it's a risky plan.
There are many good diets out there besides Atkins or South Beach. Again, it's all down to practicalities and how
badly you want to lose weight.
For example, Do you have the time to prepare special food without salt, oils or butter... as is required by the
“Six Week Body Make Over”? Do you have the time to prepare the somewhat complex recipes of the Sonoma diet? What about the Mediterranean diet?
One that's being recommended by physicians is the SunSlim diet which allows an amazing amount of daily calories and still works like gang
busters. The Sunslim, Sonoma and Mediterranean diets do allow you more freedom of choice and more portions than Six Week Body Makeover and
other low carb diets. However, consider prep time. Alternately, you could have your meals shipped right to your door step. All the hassle,
calorie counting, cooking, already done for you? Just pop in the microwave and heat. If taste is not important to you, this may work. It could
be expensive though.
What about responsibility? Can you be trusted to keeping your promise to yourself? Will you keep a journal? Log
what you ate for the day and how many points you earned as in Weight Watchers' program? Would Weight Watcher meetings benefit you? What about
a consultation with an expert like Jenny Craig?. Or would you prefer to do it all yourself online as you can with the Biggest Loser or E
diets?
You must ask and answer these questions if you're going to find the diet that is right for you. If you dread the
thought of giving up carbs, obviously a low carb diet is not the way for you. Why make it harder than it needs to be? You'll only be setting
yourself up to fail. If you do not have the time to cook for yourself or your family resents eating “diet food” - the Six Week Body Makeover
or Mediterranean diet is not for you. You would probably benefit more from Jenny Craig or even Nutrisystem where the food is sent to you
already prepared.
If you want to the choice to eat what you want, when you want as long as it is in moderation then Weight Watchers
is the way to go. If you want to do it yourself at home, eating a variety and at times anything you want, try the SunSlim Diet.
Because we all do not have the same available time and resources, there is no one-size-fits all solution when it
comes to weight loss. While one diet may indeed get the best, safest results, it just may not fit in with your lifestyle. So, the best diet
for you is the one that best fits your needs while still giving you the slimming results and body you desire. Fad diets and dieting fads
may be harmful to your health. If you really want to lose weight quickly, permanently and safely, you should see how these formerly overweight people did it.
